Do you work with small dogs?
Yes absolutely! I have experience with dogs of all sizes and can absolutely help you with your small dog!
I have a multiple dogs, how would we conduct training?
For multi-dog households I find it best to start off by working with each dog individually to build a solid foundation in training and then work up to training them together. In my experience I've found that you get better results by training separately at first. It allows for less distractions and more focus from each individual dog and then once they have a good understanding of what we are trying to teach them we can work on implementing that training when all the dogs are together.
Do you use treats for training?
YES absolutely! Not only do I use treats for training but I highly recommend you use HIGH VALUE treats! The difference between high and low value treats is that low value treats are "training treats" you can buy in a bag at any local pet store. High value treats are typically any form of cooked meat such as chicken, steak, hotdogs etc. I will never tell you exactly what treat to use because every dog is different, some dogs love cheese and others love hotdogs! I will however be able to let you know when you've found what your dog considers high value based on how they act when given that specific food.
Do I provide my own treats for training?
Yes, you the owner will be responsible for providing treats for our training session.
Do you require a certain amount of lessons?
At this time, no I do not have a minimum amount of lessons you must hire me for. Because every dog is different and every dog learns at a different pace. I tailor my training program to each individual dog. We will take it one lesson at a time until we have reached your desired goals. Some people only need help teaching one specific command while others would like everything from leash manners to advanced obedience. You tell me your goals and I'll assess your dog's starting point at the meet and greet and be able to tell you roughly how many lessons I think it will take to get you your desired results.
Where do you conduct training sessions?
For in-person lessons, I offer home visits for your convenience which is what most clients end up choosing. I will also meet you at any local park per your request. Have a specific path you walk daily with your dog? A specific hiking trail you'd love to have your dog off leash at? I will tag along and walk the route with you! We will train in that environment for that environment to ensure the best results possible!
For Virtual Clients, the world is your oasis. You decide whether you would like to be at home, at a friends house or out at a local park during our call! Recommendations for location will be given based upon your designed goals for your pup. Example: neutrality around dogs and people cannot be achieved from your living room.
How long are training sessions?
Training sessions are a one hour private lesson. The frequency of lessons is different depending on the current situation. However, for most dogs who just need basic obedience and/or simple behavior conditioning, lessons will take place once a week so you have time to do your homework between lessons.
DO YOU USE TOOLS?
I do not attempt to hide the fact that I DO often work with various tools. I use what is known as a Balanced Training Style. This means that I prefer to use a Balance between tools and positive reinforcement. HOWEVER I also offer Force Free Training. Not every pup is a good candidate for tools and not every human is comfortable using them. YOUR COMFORT LEVEL is the most important thing when choosing a training style. If you are not comfortable with an e-collar or prong collar then THAT IS OKAY and we simply DO NOT NEED TO USE THEM
I live locally and would like

I live far away and would like Virtual Lessons via Zoom Call!

As my mentor used to say, "A trainer is only as good as their personal dogs" I frequently post videos of Murphy and Scamp so you can see the level of training I have to offer.
